Fr. Richard Heilman was ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Madison, WI in 1988. He has been a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus for more than 20 years, including serving as the Wisconsin State Chaplain for the Knights of Columbus from 2015 – 2018. He is currently Pastor of St. Mary of Pine Bluff, WI.

Father Heilman founded an apostolate for men’s faith formation called the Knights of Divine Mercy to assist men in their roles as Catholic husbands and fathers. He is the author of the Church Militant Field Manual, author of a faith formation website for men called RomanCatholicMan.com, and has also authored five other books, calling men to ”Special Forces Training for the Life of Christ.”

Fr. Heilman is a leader, with Cardinal Burke, of the Catholic men’s movement, “The Holy League.” In 2016, Father Heilman and the Holy League led a nation-wide prayer campaign entitled, “Novena for Our Nation,” which is now an annual event. Over 50,000 strong Catholics participate by prayer and fasting and, in particular, by praying the 54 Day Rosary Novena from August 15 (Feast of the Assumption) to October 7 (Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary). By 2018, under the title of “Rosary Coast to Coast,” this movement grew to over 1,300 prayers sites around the nation, and 57 countries around the world, which was entitled, “Holy League of Nations.”

Father Heilman is the creator of the “Combat Rosary,” based on the original WWI military issue rosary. The Combat Rosary is now the official rosary of the Pontifical Swiss Guard. He is also the founder of the Ladies of Divine Mercy, which is an apostolate for Catholic women’s faith formation, founder of the Squires of Divine Mercy, which is an apostolate for Catholic boy’s faith formation, and the chaplain for the Holy Family Homeschoolers (Catholic Homeschool Families from the Diocese of Madison).

Fr. Heilman is also very involved in pro-life activities as the chaplain for Pro-Life Wisconsin, Vigil for Life and the Women’s Care Center.
